Susana Gómez began her career in 2007 as an administrative employee at Cupa Group at the La Medua headquarters. Since 2010, she has been the manager of Vegamolinos, the group’s hydrocarbon distribution company. Under her management are the filling station serving the comarcas of Ourense and León, as well as the service stations in Ponferrada and El Barco de Valdeorras.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
The historic struggle of women to obtain the same rights and the same visibility as men in our society. It reminds us of what has been achieved and allows us to focus on what still needs to be done, both in terms of equal opportunities and female leadership. Rather than being a single day, I see it as an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
How has the situation of women evolved in your industry and during your professional career?
Positively, we now have greater presence. In recent years, the number of female intermediaries I work with has increased. Organisations increasingly value talent regardless of gender.
Have you had any difficulties in your professional life because you are a woman?
I have been fortunate to work in environments where effort, professionalism and the achievement of results are valued. When you are diligent in your work, differences between men and women in the workplace fade away.
What do you think your biggest contribution to Thermochip has been?
My effort, perseverance and high standards in striving for work well done. However, I believe that business achievements are only possible when there is a committed team behind them.
